Arrival and Dismissal Policy
McPherson IB World School has a detailed arrival and dismissal policy to ensure maximal safety and efficiency for all students and families.
Arrival
The school day begins at 7:45 am. During arrival, students line up outside with their homeroom groups at assigned locations based on grade levels:
Playground (West)
- K-1st: Door 9 (school garden)
- 2nd-3rd: Door 8 (playground)
Wolcott Avenue (East)
- 4th-5th: Door 1 (main entrance)
- 6th-8th: Door 2 (near auditorium)
- Cluster: Door 2 (near auditorium)
- PreK: Door 15 (south-most doors)
Parents are reminded not to walk alongside their children during the morning arrival process in order to prevent congestion. All parents, visitors, and guests must check in at the main office through Door 1 before entering the school building.
Vehicle Drop-off and Pick-up
Drivers may utilize Lawrence Avenue or the Winchester Avenue cul-de-sac for arrival and dismissal. Double-parking is not allowed to maintain safe traffic conditions, and a kiss-and-go system is encouraged for quick and safe drop-offs. Pick-ups and drop-offs are not allowed in staff parking lots or reserved staff parking areas along the east side of Wolcott Avenue.
Wolcott Avenue is designated for PreK AM drop-off and school buses only. Parents are not permitted to walk their children to classrooms inside the school building.
Dismissal
The school day ends at 2:45 pm. Dismissal follows the same door assignments as arrival. Families commuting by car should avoid parking or picking up students along Wolcott Avenue, which is reserved for school buses. Through traffic is permitted.
Inclement Weather
On rainy or extremely cold days, students may be held in the auditorium or multipurpose room from 7:30 am onwards.
