As an IB school, we recognize that Black history is world history, and we have a responsibility to ensure that our students see its depth, significance, and ongoing impact. This Black History Month, let’s be intentional in elevating Black voices, integrating meaningful learning experiences, and engaging students in these conversations. By doing so, we reaffirm our IB values and ensure that every student feels seen, heard, and valued—not just this month, but all year long.
At McPherson we will be having an inspiring Black History Month Showcase & Celebration, presented by the Black Student Union and Gay-Straight Alliance. This special event will honor the rich history, resilience, and contributions of Black and Brown communities through:
- Captivating student and professional performances celebrating culture, creativity, and empowerment.
- Dynamic guest speakers sharing powerful messages of progress, unity, and inspiration.
- A tribute to growth and solidarity highlighting the past, present, and future of Black excellence.
Let's celebrate history, culture, and community in an unforgettable showcase of talent, storytelling, and empowerment!
